After 80 years as part of the Royal Botanical Gardens and a $20 million Rejuvenation Project, there was going to be quite the party held for the new David Braley and Nancy Gordon Rock Garden opening - but it needed a theme.
The Roaring Twenties? Overdone. A Night Under the Stars? Please. We were tasked with creating a comprehensive gala theme and identity that would not only spark imaginations and sell tickets to the typical cultural audiences, but also be appealing to the under-14 crowds. There would be two outdoor events - a family-friendly gala and an adults-only party and the idea had to resonate with both groups.
Inspired by the inherent magic that comes from the beauty of the gardens, we created a branded mythology around these events. As Hamiltonians and Burlingtonians welcome spring, the Rock Garden transforms, for two nights only, into the Land of Luna and awakens the mythical creatures and fire eaters, magicians and acrobats within.
