Your design needs to ’suck’

Convincing someone to invest money in great design can be difficult, especially if that someone doesn’t understand the value of it. A return on investment is usually the number one thing floating around their noggin when the topic comes up. So what exactly is the R.O.I. on well executed design?
That question isn’t always easy to answer, mainly because R.O.I. on design doesn’t just stop at the creative design stage. Great design needs to be used properly for it to be effective.
Imagine buying a top of the line vacuum and leaving it in your broom closet 24 hours a day. If you do decide to take it out you only use it on the hard wood floor in the kitchen. How will you ever know its R.O.I. if that vacuum is hardly used and used improperly.
The same goes for design. A good design team is not in the business of designing for design sake only. They have your target audience in mind when creating. What is your target all about? What makes them tick? What do THEY want to see? Where will they see it? Knowing all these things is vital to the success of your business or product.
Your return on investment is important, so hiring the right team is crucial to the success of your business. Great design that speaks to your audience is definitely more profitable for you, as long as you take it out of the closet and use it to its full potential.
