It really depends on the website you are creating as to whether or not to support IE6. If your running a blog for developers then chances are most people are running Firefox and very few running IE; so why bother with IE6.
I've found that, through Google analytics on the sites I run or help run, that our IE traffic is 60% of all the visitors and 10-15% of all users are running IE6. My general policy is that it will render correctly for all versions but if the client is expecting more of an application or flashy feel to the site then I let them know the downfalls of particular browsers (trying not to go on a tangent of how bad IE is).
The good part is more and more people are starting to understand what a browser is and that there are better alternatives which should help eradicate the need for IE6 support. It also helps that popular sites youtube are letting users know that their browser is out of date.
Great Article.
